I Walk Into A White Room - Notes

(I decided to transcribe what I wrote because of my small, messy handwriting.)

"Some people find this moment - the moment before creativity begins - so painful that they simply cannot deal with it."

- This quote really hit home because I have been in that moment plenty of times. Almost every day. Whenever I whip out a blank sheet of paper to write or draw, or every time I pick up my camera to shoot something, I have this sudden nervousness or fear that makes me not want to go ahead and express myself.

"The routine is as much of the creative process as the lighting bolt of inspiration, maybe more. And this routine is available to everyone."

- I like this quote because for me, it brings 'being creative' or 'having creativity' to an obtainable level. People like to think creativity is some out-of-this-world gift from the heavens that only special people can reach, but in reality, anyone and everyone can be creative. And it's not about always looking for the 'aha' moment or doing drugs to 'unlock another part of your brain'. It's a routine. And I can do routines.

"Without learning and preparation, you won't know how to harness the power of that kiss."

- I like this quote because it really set in my mind that to be great, you have to work. It doesn't just come and plop in your lap. To really make the most out of what you can do, you have to apply yourself. This is something that I'm trying to work on within myself.

"It takes skill to bring something you've imagined into the world..."

- I always feel lost or behind when I don't know how to do the creative things that I want to do. And it tends to discourage me from doing a lot of things, simply because I don't know how. But I realize that it does take skill, which is something I actually have to work at
